Behind Closed Doors Awarded Lime Culture Re-Accreditiation
Filed under: News
We’re proud to announce that our Community and Prevention and Recovery services have been re-accredited by Lime Culture for their exceptional support offered to male survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
At Behind Closed Doors, we know that domestic abuse can affect anyone. So, we work to support everyone we can to live life free from it – no matter who they are. We are the only service in Leeds to offer end-to-end support from crisis to recovery and beyond. Our Men’s domestic abuse service is recognised as the specialist in Leeds. This expertise can’t exist without hard work, though. A crucial part of it is recognising the importance of ongoing listening and learning, led by specialists and survivors.
Raising Our Standards
Lime Culture CIC has been a vital part of this learning since 2022, when we first sought accreditation from them. Lime Culture Community Interest Company (CIC) is a national specialist sexual violence and safeguarding organisation. They are dedicated to helping frontline professionals improve their responses to sexual violence for victims and survivors. Their work spans agencies across the country and includes everything from training to research.
Recognising this opportunity for growth, Behind Closed Doors put two of our frontline services through their accreditation programme for services supporting make survivors of sexual violence and abuse. Lime Culture’s training is holistic and comprehensive, and we worked hard to meet their Quality Standards. These include:
- Leadership and Governance
- Access and Engagement
- Service Delivery
- Outcomes and Evaluation
In November 2023, we were delighted to achieve initial accreditation for our work.
Stepping Up
We didn’t stop there, though. We know that everyone who interacts with our services deserves the best care we can offer. So, in 2025, we sought further accreditation covering all of our work with male survivors – and last November, we got it.
Our Operations Manager, Debbie, said:
“We wanted to submit further evidence to support that Lime Culture’s standards are embedded in all of the work we carry out with male victims.”
“We are really proud of these achievements. They help to support the future development of the organisation and ensure that we are delivering quality services to our male survivors.”
Thanks to all of our staff who contributed to this vital achievement. Stopping domestic abuse is everyone’s responsibility, and we couldn’t ask for a more dedicated team.
If you would like help us support people to live life free from domestic abuse, there are many ways you can help.
